Officer Installation for the 2011-2012 Year - November 5, 2011
Brothers of Dayton Lodge gathered along with numerous friends and family members to celebrate another successful year and the start of a promising new one. Before the ceremonies, the newly elected and appointed officers and their guests were treated to an excellent meal, and the installation proceedings began at 7 PM. A detail from Reed Commandery #6 and Dayton Commandery #68 posted the flag of our country.
John Berthy, PM acted as Installing Officer, and RWB Walt Barner acted as Installing Marshall. Our DDGM, Scott Sowder, was in attendance. Walt Fenstermacher stepped up and assumed his position in the East. The other Dayton Lodge Officers were installed in due form. For a complete list of Dayton Lodge Officers, click HERE. Officer Elections - November 3, 2011
Dayton Lodge #147 elected its new officers for the the 2011-2012 year at its stated meeting on Thursday, November 3, 2011. Senior Warden Walt Fenstermacher was elected to the office of Worshipful Master. Worshipful Master-elect Fenstermacher also announced his appointed officer positions. Community Service Awards - September 15, 2011
Dayton Lodge #147 presents its annual community service award this year to one Dayton police officer, Matthew W. Heiser. We will thank this devoted public servant with several tokens of our appreciation, including a plaque commemorating the award, a gift card, Dayton Philharmonic tickets, and cake and ice cream. This event takes place Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 7 PM in the second floor center lodge room of the Dayton Masonic Center and is open to invited guests, family, and friends.
Summer Family Picnic - July 16, 2011
Dayton Lodge #147 will hold its annual summer family picnic on July 16, 2011. The picnic will be held again this year at Danny Jordan’s farm, at 5500 Seybold Road, Brookville, OH 45309. We will start at 11:00 AM rain or shine. We will have lunch at 12:00 PM.
Bring a side dish, salad, or dessert, along with chairs. The lodge will provide hot dogs, hamburgers, soda, and water.
Bring your family and friends to enjoy an afternoon of fun, games, food, and of course, the usual bingo.
Please RSVP by mail, phone, or e-mail by July 11 so we can estimate how many dogs, burgers, and drinks to provide.
Invitations are not being mailed out this year, though we will send an automated phone call out to all the members in the Dayton area for whom we have a phone number. If you don’t get a call by this weekend, we probably don’t have your phone number.
Formal “Prom” Dinner Dance - Friday, May 13, 2011
Dayton Lodge #147 will hold a formal dinner dance on Friday, May 13, 2011 in the lower level of the Dayton Masonic Center in the main dining room. There will be a cash bar opening at 5:30 PM. The catered dinner will be at 6:30 PM. Dinner is followed by dancing to music by our own DJ Walt Barner. The cost is $15 per person ($30 per couple). Please make your reservations by May 3.
The theme is “prom”, because we are in the high school prom season, with many proms being held at the Dayton Masonic Center this spring. This dinner dance is our opportunity to put on our tuxes or finest suits, and glamourous gowns and dresses for the ladies, and enjoy our own night out.
Lodge Visitation - May 11-14, 2011
Dayton Lodge #147 welcomes visiting Brethren and ladies from Wayne Lodge #112 in Westland, Michigan from Wednesday, May 11 through Saturday, May 14. The itinerary for the visit is as follows (keep an eye on the e-mail discussion group for updates and exact times):
Wednesday, May 11: Evening arrival and dinner at The Barnsider. Please join us for dinner. RSVP’s should be in by Monday, May 9.
Thursday, May 12: 10 AM tour of the Dayton Masonic Center, followed by lunch at Culp’s Cafe and an afternoon tour of Carillon Park. In the evening, the Brethren will join us for a craft dinner at 6 PM and a Master Mason degree during our stated meeting at 7 PM. The ladies will go out to dinner at Franco’s Ristorante Italiano and then out to see the opening night of Wright State University Theatre Department’s production of 42nd Street.
Friday, May 13: Touring of the National Museum of the United States Air Force most of the morning and afternoon, with lunch at Marion’s Piazza. Some of the group may split off to do some shopping at The Greene. In the evening our visitors will join us for our formal dinner dance.
Saturday, May 14: Morning departure.
Table Lodge - March 31, 2011
Dayton Lodge #147 held a Table Lodge on Thursday, March 31, 2011 that was open to Entered Apprentices and up. It was held in the lower level of the Dayton Masonic Center at 6 PM. The cost was $10 for members of Dayton Lodge, $15 for Brethren of other lodges. All 40+ in attendance were treated to an evening of good food and fellowship. Our educational program came courtesy of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts in the form of video portrayals of Brother Benjamin Franklin speaking to a young Mason and to the Fraternity as a whole.
Valentine Dinner Dance - February 12, 2011 - Canceled
Due to insufficient reservations, this year’s Valentine dinner dance on Feb. 12 has been canceled. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend our next scheduled dinner dance on Friday, May 13, 2011.
Annual Inspection - January 6, 2011
Brothers of Dayton Lodge and other Lodges in Ohio joined us Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 7 PM in the second floor center lodge room of the Dayton Masonic Center for our annual inspection. This year our inspection was in the Entered Apprentice Degree. The inspection went well and Dayton Lodge #147 received a favorable report.
KIND Childrens Christmas Party - December 18, 2010
Brothers of Dayton Lodge gathered along with numerous family members to hold our annual Christmas party for the children of the Kids In a New Direction program. These appreciative children were treated to crafts, games, and a visit, picture, and a present from Santa. This is one of our most heartwarming events of the year. Please join us next December as we treat these deserving children again.
Member Service Awards Night - December 2, 2010
Brothers of Dayton Lodge gathered along with numerous friends and family members to present member service award pins for our 25, 35, 40, 50, 60, and 65 year members. Our new District Deputy Grand Master, RWB Bryan Worley, presented certificates from the Grand Lodge of Ohio to the 50+ year members in his first official function as a DDGM. A detail from Reed Commandery #6 and Dayton Commandery #68 posted the flag of our country.
