Lodge Inspection - February 19, 2010

Due the snow storm on January 7th, the Annual Inspection for Dayton Lodge was rescheduled for Friday, Feb 19th.   The Master Mason degree work went incredibly well, especially considering that Senior Warden Dan Frye had to step up and fill in as Worshipful Master after only two days notice and preparation.   Many thanks to Dan for an amazing performance - you did us proud!  Also thanks to WB Keith Knight Sr for filling in as Senior Warden.

Overall, the review of Inspecting Officer R.W. Bro. Jerry Hatton was a glowing one.   Dayton Lodge officers and craft performed honorably.

Dan Frye to Assume the East - February 16, 2010

Effective immediately, and until further notice, Senior Warden Dan Frye assumes all the duties of the Worshipful Master for Dayton Lodge #147. All communication that would normally be directed to the Worshipful Master should be directed to Dan.   We are extremely grateful for his intelligence, talent and dedication… we know we are in capable hands.

Worshipful Master Stan Shank Jr has been forced to step away from the lodge to handle some personal issues.   Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

Valentine Dance with the Stars - February 13, 2010

A Black Tie event complete with dinner and ballroom dancing - all proceeds benefitting the AASR Children’s Learning Center.   By all accounts a wonderful time… if you missed it this time, keep your eyes peeled for the next one!

Officer Installation for the 2009-2010 Year

On Saturday, November 7, 2009, brothers of Dayton Lodge gathered along with numerous friends and family members to celebrate another successful year and the start of a promising new one.  Before the ceremonies, the newly appointed officers and their guests were treated to an excellent meal catered by Christopher’s Restaurant, and the installation proceedings began at 7 PM.

RW Walt Barner, DDGM acted as Installing Officer, and Skip Layman, PM acted as Installing Marshall.   John Berthy, PM stepped down after a year of excellent service as Worshipful Master, and Stan Shank Jr stepped up and assumed his position in the East.  The other Dayton Lodge Officers were installed in due form, with newly appointed Mark Schuring joining the officer line as Marshall.   For a complete list of Dayton Lodge Officers, click HERE. WM Stan Shank Jr gave a brief overview of some of the events that will be happening in the upcoming year, as well as some of the goals he would like to set for the lodge, including getting back to the basics of Freemasonry by focusing more on our history and traditions, a concept he summed up with the phrase: “More Masonry, Less Meeting”

As always, Brothers are encouraged to join us for any events and enjoy the brotherhood and fellowship that makes Dayton Lodge so special.  Keep an eye on the Calendar and this “News & Events” page to see what’s happening throughout what promises to be another successful year.
